Find those clown noses and long shoes
For many people, the Saturday morning parade is the highlight of the Bell Tower Festival. For decades the Jefferson Rotary Club has organized the parade as a service to the community, and this year is no different.
Headed by Dr Dave Jaskey, the Rotary Club is already working to make sure the 36th annual Bell Tower Festival parade, with a theme “Bell Tower Big Top,” is fitting to the Greatest Show on Earth.
Almost anything that moves can be in the parade. Floats, bands, antique vehicles, horses, semi tractor-trailers, trucks, tractors, fire trucks, walking groups and more are welcome.
Parade entries can choose if they’d like to be judged in three different categories: commercial (business advertising/publicity; non-commercial (class reunions, dance groups, organizations, etc); and thematic (entries that depict the Bell Tower Big Top theme).
Information and registration forms are available now at www.belltowerfestival.org. There is no charge for entries registered before June 10. There will be a $20 charge for entries after that date. The parade is Saturday, June 13, and will follow the usual route from Greene County High School north to the Bell Tower Square and finishing at Greene County Middle School.
“It may seem like the Bell Tower Festival is a long ways off, but it’s not too early to start planning your entry. Dig out those clown suits and round up your favorite elephants – it’s time for a parade!” Bell Tower Festival coordinator Angie Pedersen said.
