The Greene County girls won the Ram Relays in Jefferson Monday, claiming 177 points. Boone was second with 137 points, followed by ADM with 85, East Sac with 54, Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) with 48 points, Perry with 39 points and Carroll Community with 35 points.
The boys finished in fourth place with 92 points. Carroll Community won the boys title with 119 points, just ahead of Boone’s 117 points. Saydel was in third place with 104 points. Other team scores were Perry 65, East Sac County 32, Kuemper 22 and Guthrie Center seven.
The Ram girls placed first in seven events, second in six events, and third in four events.
In field events, the Rams claimed first and second in the discus throw, with senior Hannah Onken winning with a best throw of 118’ 3” and sophomore Kenna Marquardt placing second with a throw of 96’ 8”. Onken placed third in shot with a throw of 33’ 11’. Freshman Megan Durbin and sophomore Nadia Fisher tied for second place in the high jump at 4’ 10”.
In individual running events, freshman Emily Finch won the 3000 meter race with a time of 12:08.01 and placed second in the 1500 m race with a time of 5:51.42. Senior Eme Johnson, a Drake Relays qualifier, won the 100 m hurdles in :16.29. Fisher finished third at :16.70. Johnson also placed first in the 400 m hurdles with a time of 1:09.67. Sophomore Olivia Hansen finished in second place in the 200 m with a time of :27.38, and senior Jolee Wessling placed third in the 800 m with a time of 2:43.25.
The shuttle hurdle relay team of senior Mollie Sorber, Fisher, senior Sarah Sandage and Johnson won with a time of 1:09.55. The Rams won the 4 X 200 relay with sophomore Hannah Stein, seniors Emma Saddoris and Emily Christensen, and Hansen in 1:53.79. The same team won the 4 X 400 relay in a time of 4:19.78 and place third in the sprint medley with a time of 2:00.99.
The Ram girls were second in the 4 X 800 relay (senior Noelle Gray, freshman Chantel Flack, senior Nicole Kuhl, Wessling) with a time of 11:18.70.
The Ram boys won four events and placed second in four events.
Senior Alex Rasmussen won both throwing events. He claimed first in the discus with a throw of 143’ 2” and in the shot put with a throw of 48’ 9-1/2”.
The 4 X 110 shuttle hurdle relay team (seniors Dylan McConnell and Joe Doran and juniors Daric Whipple and Tyler Beger) won with a time of 1:02.67. The Rams won the 4 X 100 m relay in :44.86 with McConnell, sophomore Dalton Weber, Hamilton and junior Max Neese. The 4 X 100 team will compete in the Drake Relays this weekend.
Neese placed second in the 100 m at :11.45, and in the 200 m at :23.45. McConnell placed second in the 110 m hurdles at :15.93, and Daric Whipple placed second in the 400 m hurdles in :58.75.
