All county residents are invited to a town hall meeting hosted by Greene County Development Corporation next Monday, April 20, at 6 pm at the Greene County Community Center. The tagline for the meeting is “We’ve come this far, what’s next?”
Eight speakers are slated for the meeting.
- Mike Couch, general manager of Wild Rose Jefferson, will give an update on the casino and the adjacent Cobblestone Hotel;
- Carl Behne, CEO at Greene County Medical Center, will give an update on the expansion project;
- Lisa Jaskey of the Jefferson city council and the GCDC board will give an update on housing projects;
- Jane Fallon of Cargill Pork will discuss the feed mill proposed for Grand Junction;
- Omega Sang, president of the Greene County Chamber, will give an update on Chamber activities, including the Welcome Center;
- Angie Pedersen, Bell Tower Festival coordinator, will speak about the 2015 Bell Tower Festival, Bell Tower Big Top;
- Jamie Daubendiek, president of Jefferson Matters: Main Street, will report on the Empty Buildings Tour; and
- Chris Nation, president of GCDC, will discuss new business sites in the county.
According to Paxton, “It’s important that people are informed on what’s going on in the community. They’ll be more supportive of growth if they are award of what we have accomplished so far. We want to generate community excitement about our potential.”
