From proceeds of 2014 auction
The Rotary Club of Jefferson announced Monday the first of 29 recipients of a total of $33,000 in grants for not-for-profit projects to benefit Greene county residents of all ages.
This is the 15th year proceeds from the annual Rotary Club of Jefferson Charity Auction and Dinner have been distributed to community organizations.
“We received 46 applications requesting $93,000 in this cycle,” said Tim Christensen, auction chair and immediate past president of the club. “We hope the 2015 Rotary auction on Friday, Nov. 13, enables us to support even more projects.”
Jefferson’s Rotary Club also awards scholarships to Greene County High School seniors pursuing post-secondary education.
Following are the grants awarded on Monday, April 13:
- Adopt-a-Family, $1,000, Operation Warm Hearts – Winter outerwear for needy children
- Churdan public library, $350 – Purchase and show documentary “Terra Firma” about PTSD
- Gang Greene Junior Olympic Archery Development Club, $2,460 – Purchase archery equipment
- Greene County Early Learning Center $2,873 – Classroom organization and storage systems
- Greene County High School Interact Club, $500 – Funding for club service projects
- Jefferson Boy Scout Troop 534, $1,250 – Toward purchase of new equipment trailer for overnights
- New Opportunities, $1,000 – School supplies for needy children
- William Paton Public Library, $1,000 – Purchase non-fiction books
