In Greene County district court Shawn Patrick Maloney, 44, of Scranton was sentenced April 6 to 10 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty March 5 to a charge of lascivious acts with a child. He must comply with sex offender registry requirements for the rest of his life. Maloney was fined $1,000 with a $350 surcharge. The fine and surcharge were suspended, but he must pay a civil penalty of $250. Maloney must also pay $420 for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $1,051 court costs. Hayley Lynn Brown, 22, of Jefferson was sentenced to two five-year prison terms in a pair of criminal cases. In the first, initiated last August, Brown changed her plea to guilty to burglary- third degree and one count of forgery. She was sentenced to five years in prison on each charge, to be served consecutively. She was fined $750 on each with a $262.50 surcharge; the fines and surcharges were suspended. Brown must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge on each charge. She must also pay $5,794.33 restitution, a $10 drug abuse resistance education (DARE) surcharge, $90 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees, and $611 court costs. One count of forgery, ongoing criminal conduct and identity theft, and 14 counts of unlawful use of a credit card were dismissed. Sentencing: Oeth)
In the second case, initiated in December, Brown was sentenced after pleading guilty on burglary- third degree and forgery. As in the first case, she was sentenced to five years in prison on each charge, to be served consecutively, but concurrent to the prison time in the August case. She was fined $750 on each with a $262.50 surcharge; the fines and surcharges were suspended, but she must pay a $125 LEI surcharge on each charge. She must also pay $90 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $333.96 court costs. (Sentencing: Oeth)
Kimberly Marie Smith, 41, of Jefferson was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge after she pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment-third degree, amended from harassment-first degree. She must pay $90 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $120 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)
Kyle Jo Freese, 29, of Glidden was sentenced to two years in prison after she pleaded guilty at arraignment April 10 to a charge of driving while license barred. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation for two years. She was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Kester)
Collin Daniel Richards, 18, of Jefferson was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty at arraignment to a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, amended from theft-first degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. Richards was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. He must pay $250 restitution to the victim and restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees in an amount to be determined. Court costs were $100. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed. A companion case in magistrate court in which Richards was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was also dismissed. (Sentencing: Kester)
Eilene Sue Mathers, 42, of Jefferson was sentenced to time served after a charge in district court of public intoxication- second offense was amended to public intoxication- first offense. She must pay $48 in sheriff’s fees and $60 court costs.
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Cory Johnson, 29, of Fort Dodge, driving while license revoked (March 20 arraignment); Eric Christopher Rosenow, 31, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault while displaying a weapon and domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury; Ricardo Emmanuelle Rodriguez, 29, of Manhattan Beach, CA, assault on a peace officer and public intoxication- third or subsequent offense; Jerry Dean Barker, 51, of Jefferson, possession of a firearm by a felon; Andrew Lee Jensen, 32, of Jefferson, burglary- third degree, theft- first degree, and criminal mischief- second degree; and Cody Lee Sellman, 25, of Scranton, burglary- third degree and criminal mischief- third degree.
A trial date was set for May 12 for Johnson, and for June 23 in all other cases.
