Relay For Life of Greene features Chuck and Carla Offenburger Friday, April 10
Tremendous support from family, a 90-year-old monk, and each other helped Chuck and Carla Offenburger survive cancer within a year of each other.
Offenburgers, who live near Cooper, will tell their story of “tag-team cancer” as Relay for Life of Greene County’s Fight Back speakers Friday, April 10, at 7 pm at Prairie Blue Creative Arts on the west side of the courthouse square in Jefferson.
“We were diagnosed within a year of each other, both went through extensive treatment from 2009 to 2011, but thankfully we were never both sick at the same time,” explained Chuck. “When one of us was down, the other was generally available as a care giver and advocate.”
Join Chuck and Carla as they highlight the importance of caregivers, support teams, and faith during this free event.
Greene Bean Coffee will provide free coffee at the venue.
The second Fight Back event will be Saturday, April 25, the same day as the Relay for Life. Kathy and Rick Morain will share their stories, including how Kathy drew support from family and friends as she served as Rick’s caregiver three years ago. Homestead Coffee and Bakery will host that evening event.
