The Babysitting Basics course held over the course of a month previous years will be a one-day course Saturday, April 25.
Babysitting Basics, a course for Greene County youth in grades 5 and 6, will be held from 8:30 am to 3 pm at St Joseph Parish Center in Jefferson.
Cost is $20 for all registrations received by April 20. Class size is limited. If there is room, additional registrations will be accepted at a cost of $30.
Participants will learn babysitting responsibilities and what employers expect, ideas to entertain children, how to handle emergencies, first aid and safety pointers, and how to care for children of different ages. Sessions will be led by Sarah Jo Reynolds, ISU Extension Greene County youth & 4-H coordinator; Sue Richardson, ISU Extension Greene County families coordinator; and others including a dietitian, health care providers, members of law enforcement and the fire department, and parents with young children to observe and interact with.
