“You are free to make whatever choice you want, but you are not free from the consequence of that choice” (author unknown). Toni Haefs is slated to share her story of choices and redemption to the youth of Greene County at First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson on Wednesday, April 15, at 6:30 pm.
“Life is hard and choices are so important. We are thankful that Toni is open and willing to share her life with us: the good, the bad, and the ugly,” said spokeperson, Angela Fatka of First Baptist Church in Churdan. All youth grades 5-12 are encouraged to attend this ecumenical event.
Haefs has already told her story to students in religion classes at St. Mary’s High School in Remsen and now will do the same with youth in Greene County. Though Haefs grew up in church, her story is one of a broken home that led to low self-esteem that led to poor choices like drinking and bullying. Though the downward spiral continued into adulthood, Haefs says she can look back and see that God never let go of her.
