The Greene County Chamber board has hired Angie Pedersen as the 2015 Bell Tower Festival coordinator, a new contracted position in the Chamber organization.
“We on the Chamber board are totally committed to making the Bell Tower Festival a tourism ‘must-attend’ event. That commitment led us to hire someone to focus her attention fulltime on the very long list of details that go into planning the festival,” said Chamber president Omega Sang.
Pedersen will work as a contractor, with the contract complete once final wrap-up on the Festival is done in late June. She will report to the Chamber board of directors.
Pedersen has experience as the marketing force behind RVP~1875 and History Boy Theatre. The theatre company now enjoys sellout audiences at every performance. She is a member of the Chamber board and chairs the Chamber’s tourism committee. She has already done extensive work to build Greene County’s tourism with bus tours, a heightened presence in statewide tourism promotions, and other projects.
“Angie is a perfect fit for the temporary contract position with her tourism know-how, her high energy, and her desire to make the Bell Tower Big Top a really great festival,” Sang said.
In accepting the contract, Pedersen resigned as an at-large Chamber board member and will instead serve ex officio in a non-voting capacity. She will continue to chair the tourism committee. Toni Linberg, chair of the Chamber’s events committee, will continue to play an important role in Festival planning also.
“Adding the Festival coordinator position lets us give the proper attention our signature event needs and deserves, while freeing up other staff time to continue to work toward our purpose of serving as a leader, advocate and resource to help all Greene County businesses thrive,” Sang added.
