Recently elected members of the Greene County Extension Council began their duties at the January meeting and officers were elected during the organizational meeting. The nine member council annually elects officers to comply with Iowa law. Current members of the council who were re-elected to four year terms are Loel Larson of Jefferson and Marilyn Parker of Churdan. Pam Olerich of Jefferson was re-elected to a two-year term to complete an unexpired term. New members joining the council are Jacob Bohnet of Paton, Joe Gannon of Rippey and Andy McGinn ofJefferson.
Larson was re-elected chairperson. He will preside at all meetings of the extension council, have authority to call special meetings and perform duties performed and exercised by a chairperson of a board of directors of a corporation. Tom Heater of Jefferson was re-elected vice chairperson.
Shari Minnehan of Churdan was elected secretary. The council re-elected Parker to the treasurer position. Olerich was elected treasurer pro tem.
The council is the county governing body of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. The council hires county staff, manages the county extension budget, helps determine programming.
In partnership with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, the council provides educational opportunities that bring university resources to the needs of the county and region.
