Greene County senior wrestler Jordan Challen (138) is still alive in the state wrestling tournament after a win in the second consolation round Friday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Challen could finish as high as third in the tournament.
Challen lost 8-4 in the quarterfinals to Trevor Harsh of ADM. He met Colby McIntyre of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock in the second consolation round and won a 6-4 major decision. His next match, late in the day, was against Mount Vernon senior Ryan Muller. He won that match 5-4, and will wrestle Solon junior Cole Fritz on Saturday.
Ram senior Abe Yoder (132) lost both matches Friday and finished his high school wrestling career. He fell by a 14-1 major decision to Bradley Irwin of Centervelle, and thel lost to Brock Jennings of Osage by a 6-2 decision in the second consolation round.
