Rehearsals are well under way for the Community Players of Greene County’s (CPGC) lunder upcoming production of Pools Paradise, a comedy written by Philip King. The three-act comedy is under the direction of Josh Tuel, a first time director for CPGC. He is assisted in the directing duties by Linda Nichols, also a first time director. The cast included CPGC veteran actors Teresa Cross (pictured, right), Anna Pound, Danielle Johnson, Jim Von Dolteren (pictured, center), Lindy Lehman, Rob Hoyt (pictured, left) and Darren Jackson. Austin Wailes will make his CPGC debut.
Most people don’t realize how much effort goes into staging a theatre production, CPGC president Clay Ross said. One figure estimate often used is that the actors need at least 100 hours of stage time. That does not include the time they spend outside of rehearsals working on lines, songs, or other things related to creating their character.
There are untold hours the tech staff puts in building sets, finding all the props, and locating the costumes. There is also the business side of things, paying for the rights to do a show, paying for the supplies for the tech staff, finding a director and choosing a production. “Last but not least is getting the word out to all our supporters. It is not cheap, and we do not pay anyone,” Ross said.
“These performers, as well as the Players in general, can’t do this without your support, so be sure to come see this production March 6-8 at the Greene County High School,” he said.
