The Paton-Churdan speech team competed at the Iowa High School Speech Association Large Group contest in Ankeny on Jan. 24. The team participated in one event this year: Short Film. Its silent film, The Illusion, was given a “I” rating and will advance to the state contest at West Des Moines Valley on Feb. 7.
The students participating in the event include seniors Garion Consier, Robin Consier, Jacob Bundt, and Nohea Missweit, sophomores Autumn Johnston and Kristen LeFebvre, and freshman Devin Burgart.
Short film is limited to five minutes from beginning to the end of the credits. The film is prepared in advanced and presented to the judges. Students have the option to edit their films between contests, and the PC team has been working hard to edit their film to make it the best they can.
