Few details are available concerning an incident reported to the Jefferson police department last Friday of a male Greene County student having a knife on a school bus.
Police chief Dave Morlan said the knife blade was shorter than 5 inches and it was used in a joking manner.
Superintendent Tim Christensen said the student involved is a special education student with an individualized education plan (IEP) in place. State code requires that a “manifestation determination” be made of whether the student’s behavior violation was or was not a symptom of his disability. Christensen said a hearing has been scheduled.
Any disciplinary action will follow the manifestation determination.
