The Sierra Community Theatre will follow its successful Classic Movie Week with a two-week run of the Academy Award nominee American Sniper. Directed by Clint Eastwood, the movie tells of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (played by Bradley Cooper) and the four tours of duty in Iraq that made him legendary as the most lethal sniper in US history. The movie includes action-packed drama in Iraq and family drama as Kyle struggles to maintain his marriage and family.
American Sniper is nominated for six Academy Awards including best motion picture; best performance by an actor in a leading role; best writing, screenplay, based on material previously produced or published; best achievement in editing; best achievement in sound mixing; and best achievement in sound editing.
American Sniper will be shown at the Sierra Community Theatre Jan. 30 through Feb. 12, with show times daily at 7 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm.
