The Greene County Ram wrestling team won both ends of a Heart of Iowa dual meet in Alleman Jan. 22. The Rams were 42-36 winners against the North Polk Comets and topped the South Hamilton Hawks 40-19. The Rams take a 3-4 HOIAC record into the conference meet Saturday. They’re 8-9 in dual meets.
Headline match for the night was at 138 pounds with Ram Jordan Challen, 25-1 on the season and ranked sixth in 2A wrestling lost a 3-1 decision to South Hamilton’s JD Rader, 21-0 on the season and ranked second in Class 1A.
A total of seven matches were forfeited in the North Polk meet, with the Rams claiming 24 points by forfeit and giving up 18 points. Against the Hawks, the Rams won four by forfeit (24 points) and gave up only one (6 points).
