Trinity Lutheran Church of Jefferson continues its Community Fellowship series Wednesdays in January.
The public is invited for social time at 4 pm, a speaker at 4:30 pm, and a light supper at 5:30 pm. A free will donation is accepted for refreshments and supper, and their is always ample time for questions after the speaker’s presentation. Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 801 W. Lincoln Way.
Vicky Lautner, Jefferson park and recreation director, will talk Jan. 13 about current and future programs of the Jefferson park and recreation department.
Jane Millard, Jefferson public library director, will give a presentation “More Than Books” Jan. 20. “The library isn’t just for books anymore. Discover all the free resources available at the library,” Millard says.
Cathie Page, family development specialist, will talk Jan. 28 about the Stewards of Children program. Stewards of Children is the only evidence-based, third-party evaluated child sex abuse prevention training of its kind. It can be taken online or through a facilitator-led group session. The program is widely applicable and can be administered to community members, schools, sports leagues, faith center, youth serving organizations and state agencies.
Stewards of Children focuses on adult education and approaches the topic of child sex abuse in a way that is empowering, not fear-focused or depressing, Page says. It uses a practical, five-step approach to prevention and response that enables adults to protect the children in their lives and youth serving organizations.
