Commercial pesticide applicator courses told

Greene County Extension   will  host two continuing instructional courses (CIC) for commercial pesticide applicators in October.  All courses will be held at the Greene County ISU Extension and Outreach office in Jefferson. The training is required to be completed by the end of the year in order to maintain commercial certification with the state of Iowa.

Funds available to IA farmers through new organic certification cost share program

Deadline to apply is Nov. 3 DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey on Sept. 26 announced that $501,500 in cost share is available through a new program designed to help farmers with organic certification expenses.  Farmers are eligible for 75 percent reimbursement of eligible certification expense, limited to $750 per certification scope, which include crops, wild crops, livestock and processing/handling.
