Rockets claim pair of games from Woodbine

The Paton-Churdan Rockets near the midpoint of the basketball seasons both have winning records, a claim the teams have been unable to make in recent years. Both teams won at home against Woodbine in Saturday hoops action. The girls won 75-63 to bring their overall record to 8-3. The boys won 56-47. Their overall record is 56-47.

Rams top CMB, fall to Saydel in wrestling

The Greene County Rams split a double-dual wrestling meet in Jefferson Monday evening. The meet with Saydel and CMB was a makeup of a meet postponed from Dec. 19. Greene County magistrate court, week ending Jan. 10

In Greene County magistrate court a judgment was entered Jan. 8 against Jack Daniel Pearce of Cooper on a charge of theft-fifth degree. The judgment was for a $65 fine with a $22.75 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI)surcharge. Court costs were $101. Ram grapplers third at Creston tourney

The Greene County Ram wrestling team finished in third place among nine teams at the Creston invitational tournament Jan. 11. Host Creston/Orient-Macksburg won with 308 points, followed by Dallas Center-Grimes at 288 points. The Rams had 175 points. The tournament was scored like a dual meet tournament with cumulative point totals for five rounds of wrestling.

Rams split games against Saydel

The Greene County varsity basketball teams split road games in Saydel Friday. Freshman Trey Tucker led the boys team to a 68-65 victory, scoring 34 points, including five 3-point shots.
