A new session of the series Better Choices, Better Health will be held Mondays, Jan. 5 to Feb . 9, from 1:30 to 4 pm at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson.
The six weeks series is being conducted by Greene County Medical Center’s public health department.
Better Choices, Better Health helps adults manage the symptoms of chronic diseases such as arthritis, heart disease, stroke, asthma, lung disease, diabetes and osteoporosis. The evidence-based program was developed by Stanford University.
Participants learn
- Techniques to deal with isolation, frustration, fatigue and pain
- Suitable exercises for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility and endurance
- Appropriate use of medications
- How to communicate effectively with family, friends and health professionals
- Healthy eating and nutrition tips
- How to evaluate treatment options.
