Adopt-a-Family Christmas food basket project helps many

AaF food 2It takes many volunteers providing hours at all types of labor to pull together a project like Adopt-a-Family’s Christmas food basket project. Volunteers started Thursday evening assembling 165 boxes of staples and household items. Meat, including a spiral cut ham, eggs and milk were added Saturday morning before the pre-registered recipients picked up their boxes at Clover Hall in the afternoon.

Pictured Thursday evening are members of the Hardin Happy Hustlers 4-H Club, the Greene County High School chapter of National Honor Society, teens from St Brigid Catholic Church, Adopt-a-Family board members and friends.

The Adopt-a-Family board set $12,000 as the fundraising goal for the project. The Jefferson Does donated all proceeds from their basket auction in November, churches took up special collection, and groups and individuals made donations as well. A silent auction of a dozen wreaths last week raised $374.
