A team of Greene County High School female athletes competed for the first time ever at a powerlifting meet Nov. 1. The girls placed first in the squat competition at the Natural Athlete Strength Association (NASA) powerlifting regional meet in Des Moines.
Members of the team are pictured: (front, from left) Lauren Carlson, Karli Anthofer, Sydney Schiltz and Emma Saddoris; and (back, from left) Stacy Mears, Mollie Sorber, Sunny Mobley, Annie Palmer, Kenna Marquardt, Megan Durbin, Nicole Kuhl and Nadia Fisher.
The team is coached by Richard Beeler. Adult supervisors at the meet were Deb and Craig Marquardt and Emily Gannon.
The team thanked Power Lift, Hamilton Redi-Mix and the Jefferson police department for their sponsorship. Their support made competing at the meet possible.
