Sharon Stalder of Jefferson (right) received the Hero of Hope award by the American Cancer Society at a regional conference Oct. 25 in Carroll. Caryline Clark of the ACS presented the award.
The Hero of Hope award is given in each region to one outstanding survivor volunteer who exemplifies inspirational communication skills, passion for Relay for Life and commitment to the mission of the ACS.
Stalder has served as the mission and education chair of the Relay for Life of Greene County for the past three years and was the Fight Back speaker in 2014. She has been the captain of her Relay for Life team for 17 years, one of the longest tenured teams in Greene County. “She is a passionate advocate and a mentor for all cancer survivors in her community,” said Caryline Clark of the ACS in presenting the award.
“Sharon’s kind and positive attitude is contagious,” said Peg Raney, chair of the Greene County Relay. “We appreciate that she will visit with others fighting their cancer battles and share what she has learned along her journey.”
The 2015 Relay for Life of Greene County will be April 25 at the Greene County Community Center. Visit Facebook for information. “Like” the page and be entered in a prize drawing!
