Regency Park Nursing and Rehab shares the good news that Gary Anschutz was able to return home after less than four months of rehabilitation following surgery to repair a tib-fib fracture.

Gary arrived at Regency Park July 1. Regency Park’s therapy department implemented a customized rehabilitation program to address his functional deficits. When Gary arrived he was non-weight bearing and unable to walk. Throughout his rehabilitation, Gary improved his upper and lower extremity strength, gait, transfer and balance. He can now ambulate with his 4-wheel walker for more than 150 feet before he needs to rest. He can also transfer independently and demonstrates dynamic standing balance for approximately 10 minutes without losing balance.

Gary has been discharged home. He said he was excited to return to his wife Joyce’s famous chili. Joyce said she couldn’t believe how much stronger Gary is and that he went home stronger than before he went to the hospital.

Regency Park staff wished him the best at home.
