Friday, Oct. 31: Routine activity reported.

Thursday, Oct. 30: At 5 pm a complainant spoke with an officer about harassing text messages from a former boyfriend. An investigation has been started. At 6 pm a complainant reported a theft that had occurred online. The complainant reported paying for a vehicle but then could not make contact with the seller. At 8:35 pm a resident reported an open fire hydrant at W. Park and S. Maple St. The officer shut off the hydrant but did not locate anyone in the area.

Wednesday, Oct. 29: At 3:20 pm a complainant reported the theft of a wheel barrow that had been set out to the curb with items in it to be disposed of for clean-up week. At 3:24 pm a complainant reported the theft of a quilt from a residence in the 400 block of W. Harrison St. At 5:33 pm a 14-year-old female reported harassment at her home in the 500 block of S. Chestnut St. An investigation has been initiated. At 8:13 pm a JPD officer took a report that Greene County sheriff’s deputy Shane Allen had struck a deer on Highway 4 at 250th St south of Jefferson while driving a sheriff’s office vehicle. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $300. *** Pursuant to a complaint of an assault on Oct. 28, at an apartment at 1000 W. Adams St, a warrant has been issued charging Kathleen Ann Specht, 55, of Jefferson with assault – simple.

Tuesday, Oct. 28: At 3:52 pm an officer investigated a two vehicle collision in the Kum and Go parking lot. Thomas Habben had parked his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in front of the  store. Shirley Drayer pulled into the parking lot in a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox as Habben backed from his parking stall. The two vehicles collided, causing an estimated $500 in damage to each vehicle. No citation was issued as the incident occurred on private property. At 5:37 pm a complainant reported an assault at an apartment in the 1000 block of W. Adams St. Charges are pending at this time.

Monday, Oct. 27: At 12:30 pm a complainant reported finding a door and screen tampered with at a residence in the 500 block of N. Maple St. At 8:29 pm shoplifting was reported at Dollar General. Paige Corley, 17, and Valen McKown, 16, were both charged with theft – fifth degree*. Those charges have been referred to Juvenile Court Services.

Sunday, Oct. 26: At 5:50 pm a complainant reported trespass at a residence in the 1000 block of W. Wall Street. ***A warrant has been issued charging Brock Stoner, 25, of Jefferson with driving while license revoked*.

Saturday, Oct. 25: At 5:34 pm an officer was requested to pick up an abandoned bicycle from a residence in the 600 block of S. Oak St. At 11:04 pm an officer located drug paraphernalia near the restroom at Russell Park.

Friday, Oct. 24: Routine activity reported.

Thursday, Oct. 23: At 8:57 am a complainant reported items stolen out of his vehicle at Central Christian Church. At 4:43 pm an officer arrested Kelsey Gross on an outstanding Webster County arrest warrant for theft – third degree*. ***After the completion of an investigation initiated on Oct. 17, an arrest warrant has been issued for Colby Baugh of Ames for harassment-third degree (simple misdemeanor)*.

Wednesday, Oct. 22: Routine activity reported.

Tuesday, Oct. 21: At 8:31 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief at a residence in the 700 block of S. Oak Street where eggs had been thrown at a vehicle and a residence.

Monday, Oct. 20: At 12:12 pm an officer investigated a backing collision in the Fareway parking lot. Raymond Gunn was backing a 2001 Toyota Tacoma from a parking stall near the building. Gunn struck a 2004 Ford Windstar owned by Gerald Pettit that was parked in a parking stall behind his vehicle. Pettit’s van sustained $1,500 in damage and Gunn’s Toyota sustained $100 in damage. No citation was issued as most traffic offenses do not apply out of the roadway right of way. At 6:26 pm an anonymous caller in the Shopko parking lot reported a domestic disturbance taking place in the yard at 304 W. Head Street. The officer spoke to a female who is residing in a camper on the property with a male. The officer determined that the female had been warned several times for similar activity. Freedom Hope Ore, 33, of Jefferson was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct*.

Sunday, Oct. 19: ***Pursuant to an investigation initiated Sept. 7 when an officer had attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle at W. State and N. Maple and a brief pursuit had taken place, warrants have been issued charging Jared Dean Dennhardt, 25, of Jefferson, with eluding (aggravated misdemeanor), excessive speed – 73 in a 25, and defective muffler system*.

Saturday, Oct. 18: Routine activity reported.

Friday, Oct. 17: At 7:56 am a complainant reported criminal mischief to her vehicle in the 300 block of E. Vest St. At 8:22 am staff at Greene County High School requested an officer to remove a student that should not be at school due to a suspension. At 9:20 am a complainant reported unwanted phone calls from her former husband. A protective order is in effect. Colby Neal Baugh, 26, of Jefferson is being charged with violation of a no contact order (simple misdemeanor)*. At 12:31 pm a complainant reported being assaulted by a female in the parking lot at the Greene County High School. An investigation has been started.

Thursday, Oct. 16: At 12:35 am John Clark advised he had struck a deer on Westwood Dr near Deer Run. The officer removed the deer from the roadway. At 10:05 am a complainant spoke to an officer about his son being harassed by another student at the high school. At 5:03 pm a complainant reported being harassed at Russell Park. At 6:08 pm a complainant reported a possible burglary at a residence in the 100 block of N. Olive St.

Wednesday, Oct. 15: At 1:52 pm an officer was advised of a two vehicle collision that occurred in the Greene County Medical Center parking lot. Lora Smalley struck a vehicle parked next to hers. Damage Smalley’s 2009 Toyota Venza and to Dale Shriver’s 1999 Dodge Dakota was estimated at $1,000 each. No citation was issued as most traffic offenses do not apply outside the roadway right of way. At 8:28 pm Carrie Peters reported striking a deer on Westwood Drive near Briarwood Bend. Peters’ 2014 Nissan Pathfinder sustained an estimated $1,000.00 in damage. ***Pursuant to a complaint of harassment on Oct. 6 in the 300 block of E. Lincoln Way, an arrest warrant has been issued charging Shannon Otterson, 35, of Jefferson, with harassment – first degree (aggravated misdemeanor)*.

Tuesday, Oct. 14: At 9:02 am an officer took a report of criminal mischief to the roof on the city-owned animal shelter at 700 W. Russell St. The roof had been damaged by someone possibly walking on it.   *** Pursuant to a complaint taken on Sept. 21, warrants have been issued charging Haley Lynn Brown, 21, of Jefferson, with harassment – third degree and criminal mischief, both simple misdemeanors*. ***Pursuant to an investigation initiated on Sept. 24 at Excuses, warrants have been issued charging Sonya May Smith, 28, of Jefferson with forgery – aggravated misdemeanor (four counts) and theft-fifth degree, a simple misdemeanor*. Smith is accused of changing tip amounts on receipts after customers had paid for their orders. ***Pursuant to an investigation of a reported sexual assault of a 5-year-old female  on Sept. 15, at a residence in the 600 block of W. Washington Street, a warrant has been issued charging Jonathan Leonard Bevers, 32, of Grand Junction, with lascivious acts with a child – Class C felony*. ***Pursuant to an investigation initiated on May 31, where an officer had attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 200 block of N. Grimmell Road and a brief pursuit had taken place, warrants have been issued charging  Jared Dean Dennhardt, 25, of Jefferson, with eluding – aggravated  misdemeanor, excessive speed – 56 in a 25 mph zone, and improper headlight – simple misdemeanor*. Additional charges are pending for a similar incident which occurred on Sept. 7. ***Pursuant to a report of a violation of a protective order on Oct. 5, at a residence in the 100 block of N. Grimmell Road, a warrant has been issued charging Heather Thelma Ott, 33, of Jefferson with violation of a protective order – simple misdemeanor*.

Monday, Oct. 13: At 4:30 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to a window at a residence in the 200 block of W. Madison St.

Sunday, Oct. 12: At 1:18 am a complainant reported the theft of a yard ornament from a residence in the 700 block of N. Cedar St. At 11:14 pm a female subject reported a possible sexual assault that occurred in Jefferson. The officer has started an investigation.

Saturday, Oct. 11: At 12:48 pm officers were called to the Greene County Medical Center emergency room for a violent patient. Steven Logan Dzuris, 26, of Jefferson was arrested and charged with, possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine (serious misdemeanor)*.

Friday, Oct. 10: At 9 am officers were requested to assist the Boone police department in locating a male subject officers wished to interview in an active case in Boone. At 6:48 pm a complainant reported an abandoned bicycle in a yard in the 500 block of W. State St.

Thursday, Oct. 9: At 1:36 pm an officer arrested Kathleen Specht at a residence in the 100 block of N. Grimmell Road on a warrant for probation violation*. Specht was transported to the Greene County jail.

Wednesday, Oct. 8: At 4:53 pm a complainant reported the theft of a back pack in the 200 block of W. State St.

Tuesday, Oct. 7: At 7:46 am an officer investigated a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 400 block of E. Washington Street. As a result of the officer’s investigation, Steven Logan Dzuris, 26, of Jefferson, was arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault, disorderly conduct, and driving while suspended, all simple misdemeanors.* At 6:59 pm Jennifer Paulsen reported a backing accident that had occurred earlier in the day in a parking lot at the Greene County Medical Center. Paulsen had backed from a parking stall. Laine Custer was eastbound in the parking lot. Their vehicles collided. Damage to Paulsen’s 2013 Ford Fusion was estimated at $500. Damage to Custer’s 2013 Chevrolet Traverse was estimated at $200. *** Pursuant to a trespass complaint initiated on Sept. 26 at an apartment in the 300 block of S. Wilson, Juan Guzman was charged with trespass- simple misdemeanor*.

Monday, Oct. 6: At 11:42 am a complainant reported harassment which had occurred in the 300 block of E. Lincoln Way. The officer is investigating the complaint. At 3:57 pm an officer took a report of harassment at Rasmussen Law Office.

Sunday, Oct. 5: At 10:03 am a complainant reported the violation of a protective order in the 100 block of N. Grimmell Road. The incident remains under investigation.

Saturday, Oct. 4: At 8 am a complainant reported damage to her 1993 Ford Taurus. The vehicle had been parked the prior evening at the A&W Restaurant. At 2:02 pm a complainant reported stolen items from his garage in the 1100 block of N. Maple Street. At 11:06 pm while on routine patrol an officer conducted a computerized check of a registration plate on the mobile data terminal computer in his vehicle. The result of the check had a possible wanted person “hit” with it. The officer made contact with the female driver of the vehicle in the 200 block of S. West St. The officer arrested Aida Marigel Quijada Estrada, 48, of Jefferson on a Dallas County warrant for failure to appear*. Estrada was transported to the LEC, where she posted bond and was released a short time later. ***New information was provided to an officer involving an investigation that began  July 31. The information led to additional criminal charges and an arrest warrant being issued for Hayley Lynn Brown, 21, of Jefferson. Brown was charged with 81 additional counts of unlawful use of a credit card – class D felony*. ***A Jefferson officer assisted the Boone County sheriff’s office and the Iowa State Patrol with an investigation involving a fatal traffic accident in Boone County on Sept. 14. As a result of the combined investigation, Larry Lee-Warren Varnell, 21, of Churdan has been charged with providing alcohol to underage person – serious misdemeanor, driving while license barred – aggravated misdemeanor, and failure to file SR 22 insurance and open container of alcohol in a vehicle, both simple misdemeanors*. Varnell faces additional charges in Boone County.

Friday, Oct. 3: At 7:43 am a complainant reported criminal mischief to his trampoline in the 500 block of W. Monroe St. At 5:56 pm a complainant reported items stolen from a camper parked at home in the 500 block of N. Maple St.

Thursday, Oct. 2: At 12:16 pm a complainant reported the theft of items from an apartment in the 100 block of N. Grimmell Road. The officer is investigating. At 7:14 pm a fight was reported to be occurring in the alley in the 100 Block of N. Chestnut St. The officer did not locate anyone in the area. At 7:46 pm an officer responded to a car deer accident at Westwood Drive and Kirkwood Ave. Colleen Esdohr of Jefferson struck a deer. Damage to the front end of her 1997 Mercury Cougar was light. An investigation initiated Sept. 17 has resulted in arrest warrants being issued for Hayley Lynn Brown, 21, of Jefferson. Brown has been charged with criminal mischief and harassment-third degree, both simple misdemeanors.*

Wednesday, Oct. 1: A complainant reported damage done to a 2003 Buick Park Avenue while parked in a parking lot in the 400 block of Greenewood Road. At 5:52 pm a complainant reported harassment by a female at a residence in the 400 block of N. Vine St. At 7:25 pm a complainant reported a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 400 block of N. Vine St. The officer arrested Heather Ott, 33, of Jefferson on charges of domestic abuse assault-serious misdemeanor, theft-fifth degree and trespass-simple. Pursuant to an investigation of an assault which occurred on Sept. 27 at 10:35 pm in the 1800 block of N. Elm St, a warrant has been issued charging Carlan Christopher James Brown, 21, of Jefferson with assault – aggravated misdemeanor*. A warrant was also issued charging Matthew James Cummings, 27, of Jefferson with assault – aggravated misdemeanor – aiding and abetting*. The two are accused of assaulting a 15-year-old male after a name calling incident at the skating rink involving a minor female.
