 Qs & As

Why are you running for office?

Holz – The fundamental concepts of our Founding Fathers were that our country has CITIZEN politicians who would be in office for a term or two thus enabling new ideas from the private sector to be implemented on a regular basis. I will bring new innovations with a different perspective as I have manufacturing and farming experience which demands the judicious use of resources.

Lawson – I have been Greene County treasurer for 29 years and I believe that I can continue handling the Greene County treasurer office due to my commitment, responsibility, dedication, and integrity.

If elected, what would you like to accomplish during your term?

Holz – If elected, I would like to increase the transparency and effective office management through automation and implement cost effective improvements through technological advancements. Additionally, I would like to streamline customer service. I will review the investment policy and implement a policy consistent with the asset, liability, and investment policies in organizations with similar objectives and risk levels. The casino, Hy-Vee, and hospital addition will bring economic growth and increased revenue to the local economy. I believe the accomplishments I want to implement will enable the treasurer’s office to judiciously manage the additional revenue coming to Greene County.

Lawson – I will continue to provide the personal service my office has always given to each individual. Our goal is to take care of all transactions, vehicle titling, registration renewal, driver’s license, or real estate taxes in a timely and courteous manner.   My first priority is the customer.

What would you like the voters to know about you?

Holz – Through my education, bookkeeping, accounting, farming, manufacturing, and supervisory experience, I am uniquely qualified to be the next treasurer of Greene County. I am a person of integrity. Additionally, I enjoy meeting challenges, problem-solving, and working with people. I am familiar with the dynamics of Greene County as I am a county native and have lived here a good part of my life.

I have the inherent desire to serve and improve Greene County, Iowa.

Lawson – When I enter the Greene County courthouse every morning, I remind myself that I work for the people of Greene County. It is an honor to do my job, and I thank the people of Greene County for allowing me to do it for 29 years. Greene County residents can count on me and the staff of the treasurer’s office to conduct business in a professional and efficient atmosphere.

Because my years of public service have been so personally rewarding, I hope to continue working for the people of Greene County.
