The Wednesday community fellowship series at Trinity Lutheran Church will include topics ranging from genealogy to emerald ash borer in October.
Each Wednesday’s fellowship time begins with social time at 4 pm. A speaker on a topic of general interest is scheduled at 4:30 pm, and a light supper is served at 5:30. A free will donation is accepted for the supper. All are welcome.
The October schedule follows:
- Oct. 1: Valerie Ogren, president of the Greene County Genealogical Society, “Find Your Family History.” Ogren will talk about where to begin in tracing a family’s genealogy and how to organize information. October is National Family History Month.
- Oct. 8: Roger Aegerter, executive director of the Greene County Historical Society, “Nathanael Greene – Namesake of Greene County.” Aegerter, dressed as Gen Greene, will tell of Greene’s role in developing military strategy for Gen George Washington during the American Revolution.
- Oct. 15: Alicia VanCannon of ACCESS (Assault Care Center Extending Shelter & Support). VanCannon will talk about her work with victims of domestic violence in Greene County and about the services ACCESS offers. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
- Oct. 22: Brad Riphagen, field coordinator for Trees Forever, “Trees and emerald ash borer.” Riphagen will talk about Jefferson trees and the nearby emerald ash borer, and what homeowners can do.
- Oct. 29: Donna Badding-Fleener, prevention consultant for New Opportunities, “Substance Abuse in Our Communities.” Badding-Fleener will share what is being seen in the community and what adults can do about it.
