The Greene County Rams won a pair of Heart of Iowa Activities Conference volleyball games, both far from home.
Tuesday (Sept. 23) the Rams played in Monroe and topped the Mustangs in five sets. Scores were 29-27, 17-25, 26-24, 27-29 and 15-10.
Sophomore Nadia Fisher had 15 kills and senior Marissa Promes had 10. Senior Emma Saddoris had 23 digs and classmate Tressa Rasmussen and 11. Senior Mollie Sorber was 19 of23 serving and she had 20 assists. Senior Bailey Godwin had 14 assists. Rasmussen and senior Stacy Mears both served at 100 percent, with Rasmussen 19 of 19 and Mears 17 of 17 with one ace.
The girls were on the road again Thursday (Sept. 25) to play the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks in Colfax. The team won in three sets, with scores 25-12, 25-14, 25-15.
Rasmussen again served at 100 percent, going 21-21 with three aces. Sorber was 20-12 with four aces and Mears was 14-16 with three aces. Sorber had 14 assists and seven digs. Promes had nine digs. Senior Kayla Mobley led the team in kills with seven, following by senior Nicole Kuhl with six.
The Rams are 8-7 overall and 3-2 in the HOIAC. They play next on Sept. 30 against Saydel in Des Moines.
