The Greene County girls claimed another second place finish at Roland-Story’s Norsemen Invitational cross-county meet Thursday. The boys finished eighth of the 12 teams at the meet, which was held at the Riverbend Golf Course in Story City.
Sophomore Olivia Hansen was the lead runner for the Rams in the girls race, with a time of 16:28.98 for the four kilometers. Seniors filled the other four places used to compute the team score, with Emily Christensen 14th in 16:50.86, Eme Johnson 15th in 16:51.48, Noelle Gray 25th in 17:30.73, and Jolee Wessling 44th in 18:51.71. Those were personal best times for Hansen, Christensen, Johnson and Gray. Winning time for the race was 15:36.81 set by Lexi Smith of Dallas Center-Grimes.
Team scores for the girls were Dallas Center-Grimes 30, Greene County 92, West Central Valey 101, Madrid/WoodwardGranger 121, South Hamilton 132, Nevada 139, Bondurant-Farrar 149, Roland-Story 194, Saydel 226, and Colo-NESCO 277.
The first Ram boy finisher was senior Landon Braun in 32nd place with a time of 18:52.28 for the 5K race. Other places that went into the team score were senior Logan Egeland in 40th place at 19:16.59, and freshmen Kane Borgeson, 49th, 19:29.85; Ethan Woodruff, 56th, 19:50.80; and Anthony Cunningham, 76th, 20:26.53.
Trey Thompson of Ogden (son of Greene County teacher Sean Thompson and grandson of Dwight and Beverly Lehman of Jefferson) won the race with a time of 16:46.11.
Team scores in the boys race were Dallas Center-Grimes 39, Saydel 92, Ogden 98, Roland-Story 121, Nevada 138, West Central Valley 173, Bondurant-Farrar 201, Greene County 211, South Hamilton 224, Colo-NESCO 230, Madrid/Woodward-Granger 271, and Woodward Academy 279.
