A Tip Night Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Pizza Ranch in Jefferson will benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Members of the North Star Steppers will bus tables, and all tips and a percentage of the evening’s dine-in and carry-out orders will go to the team’s donation at the Oct. 4 NAMI Walks in Des Moines.
NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots organization focused on mental health. NAMI is dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI Walks is held annually the first Saturday in October. This year’s event is at Iowa Farm Bureau Lake in West Des Moines.
One of NAMI’s programs, Family to Family, is being offered this fall in Jefferson. The program is free with support of NAMI.
This is the sixth year the North Star Steppers will participated in NAMI Walks. Last year, 25 people walked with the team. In the past five years, the North Star Steppers have raised more than $11,000 to support NAMI’s programs, and team members appreciate the support of the community.
