Whiterock Conservancy near Coon Rapids invites area residents to enjoy the fall foliage season there. The yellow of elm trees and the deep red of sumacs have already started brightening the fall color palette.
Whiterock Conservancy is a non-profit land trust, open to the public, which stewards 4,300 acres of rolling pastures and timber extending eight miles through the Middle Raccoon River Valley. The conservancy includes about 10 miles of hard-surface trails, making it easy to enjoy the out-of-doors at a time many people find to be the most beautiful of the year.
Because of its river valley location, Whiterock is also on a major bird migration pathway. Now is the season to see kettles of hawks, flocks of waterfowl (ducks, grebes, pelicans, cormorants, etc), numerous shorebirds, and many kinds of warblers.
Whiterock Conservancy is located at 1390 Highway 141, Coon Rapids. Visit www.whiterockconservancy.org for more information.
