By coincidence, GreeneCountyNewsOnline columnist Colleen O’Brien Clopton (left) and her longtime friend Kathy Hankel, both of Jefferson, had cataract surgery on the same day recently at Greene County Medical Center. Neither one had to travel more than a mile to have the procedure done, and they were both back home for lunch.
But, while the Cataract Cuties recover, other friends thought they should have matching sunglasses to add glam to their recuperation. One friend used the word “wonky” to describe them, as they muddle along with one eye “done” and the other eye still waiting. Their eyes will match again in another couple of weeks, as they’ll repeat the process on an upcoming “Cataract Day” at the medical center.
