The Cyclists Of Greene (COG) bicycle club has two more of its popular Full Moon bike rides this fall, and the public is invited.
The next one is Monday, Sept. 8, with departure from the Jefferson depot at 6:15 pm. The final one will be Wednesday, Oct. 8, with the ride leaving the depot at 6 pm. The group rides the Raccoon River Valley Trail south to Cooper in the twilight, then rides back to Jefferson on the trail as the full moon rises.
There is no cost for the rides, and there are free treats at the depot afterward. Helmets, bike lights and signed waivers are required.
The club’s regular weekly rides, which are also free, leave the depot at 5:30 pm on Wednesdays, 8 am on Saturdays, and at 5 pm on Sundays, the latter family rides around the town of Jefferson. They will continue through the end of September. There are updates on the club’s Facebook page.
The final event for the bike club this year will be the annual potluck supper, with a program and election of officers on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 5:30 pm at the depot.
