Donating used books makes room for new!
With the children back in school it’s time to think about cool weather events. The annual used book sale, hosted by the Friends of the Jefferson Public Library, is one of those events.
The sale is slated for Saturday, Sept. 20, through Saturday, Sept. 27. The opening day of the sale will be a “Friends Only” sale. Friends’ memberships are very inexpensive, well worth the cost to get the first chance at the sale. Talk with any librarian about membership information. The sale opens to the public Monday, Sept. 22.
The used book sale is the Friends’ biggest fundraiser of the year, and it depends on readers and book lovers for its success. Hardcover books weeded from the library’s collection make up only a fraction of the books available at the used book sale. The remaining hundreds of items are donated by Friends and area residents. Hardcover and paperback books in any genre, as well as children’s books are welcome. (The Friends regret they cannot accept encyclopedia for the sale.) Items can be dropped off at the library any time during regular hours.
