In Greene County district court Jeremy Ernest Andrews, 26, of Jefferson was sentenced July 25 to two days in jail after changing his plea to guilty to a charge of illegal possession of a prescription drug. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge. He must also pay a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE) and a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge. He must pay restitution to be determined. His driver’s license was revoked for 180 days. Andrews also pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless driving, amended from operating while intoxicated (OWI)-second offense. On that charge he was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge. Andrews must pay $90 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)
Jarrett Long, 23, of Grand Junction was sentenced to 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to a charge of assault-simple, amended from assault causing bodily injury. The jail term is consecutive to a sentence in another Greene County case in which Long was charged with assault causing bodily injury (class D felony). The 30-day jail term was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. Long must pay $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)
David Troy Upchurch, 37, of Jefferson was sentenced to two days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of OWI-first offense, amended from OWI-third offense. He was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 DARE surcharge. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and he must complete a community college drinking drivers course. He must pay $60 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)
A judgment was entered against Jaye Christopher Conner, 50, of Jefferson after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license revoked. He was fined $1,000 with a $350 surcharge. He must pay $90 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: John Douglas Reed, 31, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine and OWI-third offense; and Thomas Michael Launderville, 34, of Grand Junction, OWI-first offense. Trial dates were set for Sept. 30 in both cases.
A case was initiated in district court to allow Estavan Espinoza Jones, 22, of Grand Junction to be extradited to Missouri.
