The Greene County Ram softball team, with players from all corners of the county, placed third in the class 3A state tournament with a win Friday afternoon over the Mustangs of East Marshall, 10-3. Ram pitcher Marissa Promes was named to the all-tournament team.

It was the Rams’ first-ever appearance in the state tournament. Their only defeat in the tournament was a 4-1 loss to Clarke Community (Osceola). The Clarke Lady Indians topped Bondurant-Farrar 7-6 to win the championship.
Final placings in the 3A tournament are, from first to eighth place, Clarke Community, Bondurant-Farrar, Greene County, East Marshall, Mid-Prairie (Wellman), Cedar Point-Urbana, Spirit Lake and West Burlington Notre Dame.
