Ram pitcher junior Marissa Promes was named to the 2014 class 3A all-tournament team by the Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union. She is the first player ever in a Jefferson-based program to receive the honor.
Clarke Community senior pitcher Libby Bemis, who foiled the Rams in the semifinal game, was named team captain.
Promes has a 25-5 record, with 226 strikeouts and 30 walks for the season.
Players named to the team, in addition to Promes and Bemis, are Allyson Deutch, Clarke, designated hitter; Keely Bycroft, Bondurant-Farrar, pitcher; Vanessa Bakely, Clarke, shortstop; Emily Wilson, B-F, shortstop; Carley Robins, Clarke, left field; Amber Kral, Mid-Prairie (Wellman), third base; Mariah Fritz, East Marshall, pitcher; Ashley Allen, East Marshall, catcher; and Ashley Burrows, B-F, center field.
