Ram baseball season ends with District 15 loss to Harlan

Baseball season ended for the Greene County Rams with a 3-0 loss to sixth rated Harlan in Harlan Friday evening. The game was the first post season game, with the Rams playing in Class 3A District 15.

Junior pitcher Riah Nelsen held the Cyclones scoreless until the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fourth, the Cyclones got four hits, two walks and a scoring error to put their runs on the board.

Junior Colton Fitzpatrick took the pitching mound with two outs in the fourth inning. He gave up one hit, had one walk and one hit batter, and he struck out two batters. Nelsen allowed two earned runs on five hits and four walks. He had three strike outs for the game.

The Rams had five hits, all of them singles. Senior Wes Tipton and junior Alex Rasmussen each hit two singles, and Nelsen added one. Harlan pitcher Brett Croghan struck out 11 Rams.

Greene County ended the season with a record of 11-15. Harlan is at 23-8 and advanced to a District 15 title game vs Carroll High in Harlan Monday.

The game was the last for Tipton and senior Zach Fouch.
