The Happiness Express Chorus, a male a cappella barbershop harmony group, provided special music for several churches in Jefferson on Sunday, July 13.
The group sang at First United Methodist Church, Christ Lutheran Church, Abundant Life Ministries, First Presbyterian Church, and Central Christian Church. The chorus completed its morning by providing entertainment for the residents of The Gardens Assisted Living facility.
“During the months of June, July, and August, the chorus sets aside a Sunday to fill in for vacationing church choirs as part of our community service project” says John Meyer of Jefferson, a member of the chorus. “It’s part of our mission to enrich lives through singing.”
The Happiness Express is the performing chorus of the Denison Barbershop Harmony Society. Members come from within a 60 mile radius of Denison and present an annual spring show, as well as help support area high school vocal music programs. This year the chorus distributed $4,300 to vocal music departments of 11 area schools and two vocal music workshop programs.
Now in its 50th year, the chorus welcomes men who enjoy singing as a hobby. For more information on the chorus, click here: Happiness Express Chorus
