As challenging as the 2014 baseball season has been for the Greene County Rams, they’ve had an easier time than Clarke Community Schools Indians. The Rams topped the Indians 19-4 Wednesday in Osceola in four innings via the 15-run rule. It was the Rams ninth win of the season; it was the Indians’ 22nd consecutive loss and the 28th for the season.
Senior Wes Tipton pitched the four innings. He gave up four hits and allowed two earned runs. He struck out two batters and walked one.
The Rams scored three runs in the first inning, 14 in the third, and two in the fourth. A dozen Rams got hits in the game. Junior Riah Nelsen hit his second home run of the season, a two-run homer. He also hit a double and had a total of three runs batted in. Sophomore Daric Whipple hit a double and two singles for three RBI and junior Colton Fitzpatrick hit two doubles for three RBI. Junior Jordan Hostetler had two singles and an RBI, sophomore Tyler Beger had two singles, Dylan McConnell had a base hit and two RBI, and Tipton hit a single that scored a run. Junior Jordan, sophomores Mac Adamson and Reid Lamoureux, and freshman Chase Stoline all hit singles.
