A buzz of activity at the Greene County Fairgrounds signaled the start of the Greene County Fair.

Preliminary figures from Sarah Reynolds, 4-H and Youth Specialist for ISU Extension & Outreach in Greene County, show good numbers of livestock identified for exhibition and showing at the fair.
The number of horses has grown to 50, requiring extra stalls. In the cattle barns will be 80 lead beef, five pens of three and four bucket calves. There will be 131 sheep, 120 swine, 21 goats, 57 cages of rabbits, 43 chickens, one duck, and two “other” among poultry.
Twenty-two dogs are expected for the 4-H dog show. The 4-H poulty and dog shows are Wednesday events. The first event in the show ring is the swine show Thursday morning starting at 8 am.
