Ram softball wins first game in post-season play by 10-0 score

The Greene County Ram softball team moves into the semi-finals in Class 3A Region 1 after a 10-0 thumping of East Sac County Tuesday in Wall Lake. The game was called after six innings.  The Rams will face Sergeant Bluff-Luton Friday. SB-L is 21-8 on the season, while the Rams are 25-7.

Against the East Sac Raiders, the Rams scored two runs in the first inning, two in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth and two in the sixth. The fourth inning score came on a home run by Emily Christensen, her second of the season. She also had a single. Marissa Promes had three singles and two RBI and Hannah Onken had a single and a double for two RBI. Kayla Mobley hit a single and a double and Emma Saddoris hit a double. Sydney Koch and Bailey Godwin hit singles. Godwin and Carleigh Paup also had one RBI each.

The Raiders have averaged close to seven runs a game, but pitcher Promes didn’t allow a hit until there were two outs in the sixth inning. That was a single. The only other Raider base runner reached on an error. Promes had seven strikeouts and no walks for the game.
