The Greene County softball team met its match in the Gaels of St Edmond in a game at Rogers Park in Fort Dodge Thursday evening. The Gaels, ranked sixth in class 2A, topped the Rams 8-1.
Sophomore pitcher Mackenzie Dennhardt pitched the first 3-2/3 innings and took the loss. The Gaels did all their scoring against Dennhardt, with six of their runs being earned. Freshman Hannah Promes was the relief pitcher. She threw the last 2-1/3 innings and allowed one hit. The Gales had a total of nine hits.
Kayla Mobley scored the Rams’ only RBI . Bailey Godwin hit a double and two singles. Emily Christensen, Carleigh Paup and Marissa Promes all hit singles.
The non-conference loss put the Rams at 19-6 for the season.
