Our favorite “Mouth of Rippey” appreciates the calls, cards and good wishes.  She sends her thanks to all.

The Rippey Library activity for Wednesday, June 12, was presented by the staff of University of Northern Iowa’s Fabulous Resources for Energy Education.  There were nine interested young people who learned about solar energy.  They were able to build a solar vehicle and take it home.  The kids enjoyed racing their cars and the presenters complimented them on the questions they asked.

This program was sponsored in part by the Junction Hilltop Wind Farm and donations by library supporters.  The staff said they looked forward to coming back for their Solar Energy presentation in July.

Phil and Toni Roberts traveled to Winterset on Sunday, June 8, to attend their granddaughter Addie Burkett’s dance recital.  Addie performed ballet with the group in the production of “The Wizard of Oz” and also in a group Jazz number, “What I Like About You”. Thursday, June 12, Toni had lunch at The Homestead with a group of her classmates in an impromptu reunion for their out-of-state classmate, Jolene (Dozier) Oyer. Later that afternoon, Toni was joined by husband Phil and daughter-in-law Brenda Roberts for a visit with fellow Rippeyite Velda DeMoss, a patient at the Greene County Medical Center.  That same evening Phil and Toni returned to Jefferson to the dress rehearsal of the play, “The Golden Boy.” Their grandson Gabe Bardole was performing in the play.  They both enjoyed the performance very much and hope everyone avails themselves of this very professional and well done play.
