The Greene County Rams scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat the North Polk Comets in softball Friday in Jefferson. Final score was 4-3. The go-ahead run was scored when a Comet fielder dropped a pop near first base with the bases loaded. Three of the Rams’ runs were unearned.
Pitcher Marissa Promes, now at 10-2, struck out 10 batters and walked one. She is at 104 Ks and 11 walks in 82 innings pitched.
The Rams had seven hits. Emily Christensen doubled and singled and had one RBI. Promes and Kayla Mobley each hit doubles; Tressa Rasmussen, Carleigh Paup and Bailey Godwin all hit singles.
The Rams closed out the week 10-4 on the season and 8-1 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference.
