The Greene County Rams scored twice in the sixth inning to win 2-1 against the Gilbert Tigers in Gilbert Wednesday. The win put the Rams at 7-1 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference and 9-4 overall.
Ram junior Marissa Promes came out on top in the pitching duel. She struck out 13 batters and walked only one. Gilbert’s one run was unearned.
Greene County’s runs were also unearned. Junior Emma Saddoris made it to second base on a dropped fly ball to left field. An error on a ground ball hit by junior Emily Christensen gave Saddoris time to make it home to tie the game. Promes hit a triple that brought Christensen in.
