The Greene County Rams shut out the Hawks of South Hamilton in Jewell Friday evening. The game ended 17-0 after three innings. The Rams scored four runs in the first inning, nine in the second, and four more in the third inning. The Rams had 10 hits and one error.
Senior Wes Tipton handled pitching duties. He allowed one hit, struck out two batters and walked one.
The Rams had eight base on balls and three batters were hit by pitches. They stole home twice on delayed double steals.
Junior Jordan Hostetler had two singles and one RBI, junior Jordan Challen had two singles and two RBI, and junior Riah Nelsen also had two base hits. Sophomore Daric Whipple doubled for two RBI and Tipton also hit a double. Junior Alex Rasmussen got an RBI on a single. Junior Colton Fitzpatrick singled and sophomore Tyler Beger had an RBI on a sacrifice fly.
The Rams were scheduled to play two games in a tournament in Cherokee Saturday, but the tournament was rained out.
The Rams lost 6-5 in Nevada Monday in HOIAC baseball. The Cubs got the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs on a disputed call at home plate.
Whipple and Rasmussen each hit two singles, and Hotetler and Beger both hit one single. Fitzpatrick took the pitching loss. He threw the entire game, allowing six earned runs on nine hits. He struck out four batters and walked four.
The Rams are at 3-4 in the HOIAC and overall.
