The Cyclists Of Greene (COG) bicycle club has a full line-up of rides for June, and the public is invited.
The general schedule has adult rides into the countryside every Wednesday at 5:30 pm and every Saturday at 8 am. There are also family rides around Jefferson for all ages on Sundays at 5 pm. All rides start at the Jefferson Depot. They are free, but helmets and waivers are required. The waiver forms are available at the start of the rides or at the Greene County Community Center.
There are two special events in June – the June 12 “Full Moon Ride” on the Raccoon River Valley Trail, led by COG member John Brunow (515-370-5521), with departure from the depot at 7:30 pm and free treats afterward; and a June 21 all-day “Des Moines Trails Ride” in that city, led by COG member Carla Offenburger (515-370-1516), with Dutch-treat lunch and supper there.
The club’s monthly meeting will be June 26 at 6:30 pm at the Community Center in Jefferson.
