Library set for “readioactive” readers starting Monday

Summer readingChildren are invited to be “readioactive” readers this summer at the Jefferson public library.

Each summer the library offers summer reading programs to encourage youngsters to enjoy reading as a summertime activity…and this summer, ROBOTS WILL RULE at the library!

It’s all about science with the “Fizz, Boom, READ!” children’s program. Youngsters are invited to join friends at the library for LEGO Day, Alka-Seltzer rockets, rubber eggs, and sense-sational experiments.

This FREE program is for children 4 years through 5th grade and will begin on June 2. Pick up a registration form at the Jefferson public library to be a super scientist!

Participants will make gizmos and gadgets, fizzing candy and soda can robots and learn about wind and solar energy. In June, children can attend a Science Center program and then in July, Mr. Magic, Jonathan May, will be featured at the final party. There will be weekly movie programs, science and craft projects, “I Spy” activities, contests, and drawings for all….but wait…there’s more!

Children completing the free program will be awarded a book bag, bookmarks, reading, pizza, and ice cream treat certificates, T-shirts, Blank Park Zoo passes and paperback books, and they can use the “dollars” they earn throughout the program to purchase prizes at the final party.

The summer reading program is FREE because of our generous community sponsors: Breadeaux Pizza, Dairy Queen, Excuses Pizza, Pasta, and Subs, Fareway, Greene County board of supervisors, Home State Bank, Junction Hilltop Wind Farm, Peoples Trust & Savings Bank, Pizza Ranch, Wells Fargo Bank, and the Friends of the Jefferson Public Library.
