Ram pitcher Marissa Promes has now pitched two softball games without walking a batter. Promes struck out eight batters and walked none in the Rams’ Wednesday evening 5-1 victory in Jefferson over Roland-Story. Promes also hit a solo home run that cleared the left field fence to lead off the fifth inning.
The Rams had seven total hits. Tressa Rasmussen hit two singles. Emily Christensen tripled for two runs batted in and Carleigh Paup got an RBI with a ground out. An R-S error also resulted in a run for the Rams.
The Rams are now 2-0 on the season and in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play.
Junior Colton Fitzpatrick pitched the entire baseball game vs Roland-Story had helped the Rams to a 3-2 win. Fitzpatrick struck out three batters, hit one with a pitch and walked three. The Norsemen’s runs were both unearned.
Six Rams had hits for the evening. Fitzpatrick hit a double, and Jordan Challen, Tyler Beger, Dylan McConnell and Jordan Hostetler all hit singles. Alex Rasmussen hit a pair of singles.
The Ram baseball team is 1-1 on the season and in HOIAC play.
